Temples of Angkor: A spiritual quest to the heart of Cambodia's ancient temple city

Angkor Wat is unlike any other site on Earth. Rising at dawn, the temple appears as if suspended between heaven and earth, Only when you walk through its vast stone corridors and ascend its towering steps do you begin to sense the magnitude of the energetic vortex it holds. Angkor Wat is not only a temple it is a living mandala, a sacred map of the cosmos. Every carved relief, every alignment with the sun and stars, reflects the ancient vision of harmony between the human, the divine, and the universal order.

Dedicated to Vishnu, the sustainer of the universe, the temple itself was conceived as a cosmic embodiment of Mount Meru, the mythic axis mundi in Hindu cosmology, the very mountain upon which the gods dwell. Its towers rise like celestial peaks, its galleries unfold like the circles of the heavens, drawing you deeper into its mystery.

The 7 Keys of Angkor: Sacred Symbols & Soul Codes

as mapped by by Richard Smithies
first published in Material for Thought, Far West Press, Spring 1974.

Across its thousand temples, the Angkor complex is more than an archaeological wonder it is a living library of spirit. Woven into its architecture is a multi-layered spiritual map, a grid of seven symbolic keys encoded in design, carving, and celestial alignment.

These keys are not just metaphorical; they are energetic gateways. Each one holds a fragment of ancient wisdom, designed to awaken soul memory and guide seekers back into remembrance of their place within the cosmic order. To walk these temples with presence is to step into a dialogue with the ancients one that whispers across stone, time, and spirit, calling forth both personal and planetary awakening.

In this journey, you will:

  • Unlock the symbolic architecture and its connection to divine cosmology

  • Learn how Angkor aligns with global ley lines & portals

  • Practice energetic activations and transmissions at temple sites

  • Integrate messages through daily yoga, meditation & sacred circle

Antigone - retreat participant 2025

“Walking through the temples of Angkor felt like stepping into another dimension one where time stood still and spirit spoke through stone. Each temple carried its own energy, and through Alexia’s guidance, I was able to experience them not just as ancient sites, but as sacred portals. The carvings, the sunset, and our rituals at two of the temples were such a blessing. Alexia’s interpretations and her way of finding clues, tuning into the energy, and offering reasons beyond the ordinary historical lens was truly a gift to experience. The meditations inside the temples were some of the most powerful moments of my life. I didn’t just visit the temples I was transformed by them.”

Why the temples of Angkor? Why Now?

Angkor is situated on one of Earth’s major energy grid lines, aligned with other sacred sites such as the Pyramids of Giza and Easter Island.
It holds encoded information in its sacred geometry, proportions, and mythic narrative all awaiting activation through conscious presence.

The land calls you if you feel:

  • READY TO Work with Earth energy and planetary grids

  • A connection to ancient civilizations

  • The pull to remember your sacred purpose

  • A desire to awaken the soul's blueprint

  • Reconnect with yourself through sacred site work

  • A readiness to walk as a bridge between worlds

  • Experience both mysticism and cultural immersion

Through this journey, you are invited to not only witness but co-create, becoming a conscious node within the greater web of energy. In this process, you step into a role that is both scientific and spiritual, grounded yet expansive, a practice that transforms understanding into lived experience, and curiosity into a tangible connection with the Earth, the cosmos, and the self.

Through sacred connection with the land, temples, and people of Cambodia, you’ll experience Angkor not as a monument of the past, but as a living portal one that mirrors and activates your own inner remembering.

A Spiritual Quest to the heart of cambodia and it’s importance to humanity

When seen from above, Angkor Wat unfolds as a yantra, a sacred geometric mandala designed to channel and harmonize the currents of the cosmos.

The temple is built from laterite, a stone rich in quartz, whose crystalline veins are said to amplify subtle energies while grounding them in the earthly realm. Quartz crystal can be “programmed” with intention, focusing consciousness and energy, and in the modern era, it has become indispensable in technology from precision timekeeping to data storage hinting that ancient civilizations may have once wielded these energies with mastery far beyond our present understanding.

At the heart of the central tower, archaeologists have uncovered a stone box, thought to have held a wired mechanism, perhaps copper. Across the ancient world, copper was revered as a sacred medium, an alchemical bridge between heaven and earth, capable of conducting both celestial and subtle energies.

Could it be that the central tower once harbored a copper spire, sealed within stone, a hidden transmitter of cosmic currents flowing through the planet’s crystalline grid?

Remarkably, the temple is aligned with true north, placing the very axis of the Earth at its center a subtle signal that Angkor is not merely earthly, but a point of cosmic calibration.

Angkor Wat does not stand alone. Its proportions and placement align with a hidden geometry that spans the globe, a subtle lattice traced by the Golden Section of Phi, (Φ) the divine ratio that shapes shells, stars, and spirals of light. Hugh Newman has shown that Angkor, Giza, and Nazca are not isolated monuments but nodes in a planetary web of Phi, a network encoded with sacred proportions that may harmonize Earth’s energies.

Within this network, Angkor Wat becomes more than a temple. Its yantra-like layout, its alignment with true north, and the crystalline resonance of laterite quartz hint that it was designed as a living antenna, tuned to the cosmic currents and the earth’s own subtle grid.

“One of the most valuable experiences of this retreat was walking through and meditating inside the ancient temples. Sitting in those sacred spaces, gently and powerfully guided by Alexia, connected me with something far greater than myself. It felt like a remembrance of something ancient within me. The carvings, the energy, the alignments and synchronicities gave me a deep sense of connection. Through our conversations and the way we uncovered clues, it felt as though we were linking ancient lands and lost wisdom. I realized how everything is interconnected. Even in the ruins of a faraway place, I found parts of myself. It was a powerful reminder that sacredness lives everywhere, and that my own spiritual path is part of something much larger and timeless. I felt part of something far greater and sacred.”

lovingly led by Alexia Berta

a devoted space holder for profound introspection and soul awakening, with a background immersed in Asia’s sacred traditions, Alexia Berta leads seekers on a transformative pilgrimage and soul quest, guiding them through the Earth’s energetic grids, leylines, and the hidden currents that run through ancient sacred sites.

  • “ My journey has always been guided by the land itself. In Cyprus, the island of my heritage, I first felt the call through the myths of Aphrodite, Artemis, and Apollo, archetypal forces that shaped my understanding of energy and consciousness. It was at the Temple of Apollo that I received a powerful transmission, a clear spiritual download that awakened me to the presence of the Earth as a living conduit. At the time, I could not fully comprehend it, but I knew it was the beginning of something far larger than myself.

I was initiated into ancient greek mysticism at the age of 19 whilst studying drama in Greece by my teacher on a pilgrimage to mycynae and epidaurus. This was a time of rapid spiritual accelaration and growth that took me all the way to nepal, india and further into asia, spending 14 years in the region.

my first visit to siem reap was in 2008. subsequent visits kept unlocking new keys towards my seeking. Immersed in the temples of Cambodia, drawn into the intricate cosmology of Hinduism, the sacred geometry and foundations of Angkor, I began to see parallels. The soil of Cyprus, rich in copper, was not unlike the laterite and quartz of Angkor: each carried a frequency, a living intelligence that amplified energy and consciousness.

The ancients knew this. They built their temples not just as monuments, but as resonant devices aligned with the Earth’s energy grid.

I have been engaged in gridwork since 2005, tracing the energetic lines of the Earth across continents. From the leylines the middle east: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, to the subcontinent of Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal; all around Australia and the southern easter coast of Japan to the Pacific, Europe and South East Asia this work has revealed to me again and again that the Earth is not passive ground, but a living network of power and intelligence.

Along the way, I have been called to lead spiritual retreats and group activations at some of the world’s most potent ancient sites. In Cambodia, at the temples of Angkor, we worked with the crystalline architecture and sacred geometry encoded into the stones. At Delphi, in the heart of Greece, we attuned to the oracular current that still resonates through the navel of the Earth. On the island of Delos, birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, we entered the archetypal field of divine light and lunar mystery. And in Cyprus, my homeland, we honored the copper-rich soil and mythic lineages of Aphrodite and Apollo, reconnecting with the land as a transmitter of subtle energies.

Each journey has been both outward and inward: a pilgrimage across the Earth’s energy grid, and a deepening activation within the human energy field.

Through grid work, I have witnessed how sacred sites are not relics of the past but living portals, responding to our presence, our intention, and our willingness to remember.

This is the essence of my work today: to guide others into this remembrance, to help seekers feel how they too are antennas, connected to the soil, the stone, the myth, and the cosmos and together to raise the frequency of humanity back to it’s limitless potential.”
